Rapidly-Expanding All Out, Inc. Orders Second Full U. KBA 56-inch Rapida 142 Large Format Press
WOODRIDGE, IL—08/30.07—KBA North America, a leading sheetfed offset press manufacturer based in Williston, Vt., is honored to be producing a new press for All Out, Inc., a commercial printer. The shop has experienced rapid growth after seizing the large format market with the installation of a KBA Rapida 142 56-inch five-color press in July 2006. The new press, which will have six color units plus interdeck UV capabilities, will be installed in All Out, Inc.’s newly-expanded 37,000 sq. ft. facility in December 2007.
“We have experienced significant growth since the installation of our first KBA press,” says J.B. Capuano, All Out Inc.’s president. “We need a second press to keep up with demand. We would also like to branch out into new market segments by using different substrates, such as plastics and foils, so we equipped the new press with interdeck UV capabilities. Our plan is to move into the specialty print market, printing on foil stocks, styrenes, biodegradable plastics, and other materials. This will allow our sales force to fearlessly meet just about any print and finishing need our customers may have.”
Currently, All Out, Inc. is running its KBA press 24-hours a day 7 days a week to provide its nationwide customers with all types of commercial, packaging and point-of-purchase work. By having the KBA large format press, All Out, Inc. will be able to effectively provide its customers with more options than ever before.
“We have formed a tremendous partnership with KBA,” says Capuano. “We’re producing fantastic quality on our Rapida 142 and we’re growing tremendously. KBA’s large format press is the best offered in the industry and by installing it, we’ll be able to grow even more.”
Taking advantage of KBA’s superb seminars
To ready themselves to produce specialty work, such as utilizing lenticular, plastic cards, and other substrates, All Out, Inc. has sent its employees to specific seminars at KBA headquarters in Vermont to collaborate with other industry professionals. For example, All Out, Inc. employees learned advanced techniques for working with lenticular. Lenticular printing is a special technique that involves printing an image on the back side of lenticular plastic, allowing the eye to simultaneously view alternating sections of multiple images to give the impression of 3-D, flip, or motion.
“We found KBA’s seminars to be extremely educational and informative,” says Capuano. “It was a great learning experience and we’re glad we took advantage of it.”
A host of other preparations for the new press are being made as well. New software upgrades are being made to accommodate the new press’s lenticular production capability. 12,000 sq ft of space is being added on the facility this fall for the new press. The firm will be hiring more production employees to take on the additional work derived from the Rapida 142, as well as a few sales people.
Before the press is installed, All Out, Inc.’s management team will be traveling to KBA’s headquarters in Germany for a factory tour. In mid-September, Capuano will be joined by Bob Pawlicki, Sales Manager, and Dan Kotas, Marketing Manager, to check on the press production. Then in November, Capuano will return to KBA’s headquarters in Germany with Gordon Gizowski, his Vice President of Operations, and Craig Rehr, his Plant Manager, to officially sign off on the press before it is shipped to the United States.
Going green
All Out, Inc. is also in the midst of “going green” by becoming certified by the Forest Stewardship Council and earning their Chain of Custody certification. The process confirms All Out, Inc.’s commitment to well-managed forestry and the environment. Once the firm is certified, it will be allowed to display the FSC logo, which indicates that the wood used to make the product comes from a forest which is managed in an environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable manner. The FSC system demands direct traceability to particular wood sources and provides a chain of custody throughout the supply chain, including paper mills, merchants and printers. All Out, Inc. will be able to identify what paper has been used throughout the production process and will be able to deliver FSC certified paper to its customers that want an environmentally friendly option.
“Achieving FSC certification will demonstrate our dedication to sustaining the environment,” says Capuano. “It will also give our customers a way to honor their own commitments to the environment by specifying FSC certified paper.”
Giving customers the ability to go “All Out”
All Out, Inc. was formed by a core group of employees led by J.B.Capuano in 2005. As a group, they have over 100 years of experience in the 40-inch sheetfed market. They have served a diverse range of customers, including direct manufacturers, ad agencies, designers and corporate clientele.
“Since the 40-inch market has become so commoditized and saturated, we wanted to carve out a unique niche”, says Capuano. “We are now much more competitive in our existing 40-inch market and are now into the large format markets as well. Buying the new 56-inch KBA press with U/V will differentiate us even further in the marketplace and give our sales people even more to offer their customers. This press also gives our customers total freedom to achieve their vision without being limited by space restraints.”
