During a press conference Wednesday afternoon, Ben Zhou, Owner & President of GLM Digital Technology, an RBT International Company (Booth 4257), expressed the need for a wider acceptance of more environmentally friendly re-positional inkjet media. Zhou explained that GLM has put together a strong research and development team to develop solutions to current issues worldwide.
“Coating technology hasn’t evolved as much as the printers have,” he said.
Two issues in particular, are that many substrates are not environmentally friendly or reusable, and most adhesives, he explained, are still solvent-based.
In response to these issues affecting the industry, RBT International and GLM have developed novel polymer and new formulations, as well as recyclable and biodegradable substrates and water-based adhesives as an alternative to solvent-based adhesives.
