RIPON, WI—Ripon Printers announced it had permanently laid off 28 employees last Monday, about 10 percent of its workforce, Ripon Press reported. Production workers and office personnel were impacted by the reductions. The cuts were reportedly made to bring worker rolls more in line with Ripon Printing’s current annual sales volume of $35 million.
"We are saddened that we have had to say good-bye to some very capable, talented, experienced friends and co-workers," company President Andy Lyke said in a memo to employees.
In that memo, Lyke explained that the company’s sales have been off over the past three years due to the recession and retrenchment within the printing industry.
