Watch this week's Short Attention Span Sales Tip here.
Good morning!
This is a very quick sales tip and a very simple concept, so I won't take up too much of your time today.
I am hereby declaring today, Monday September 30th, “Reset Monday.”
Similar to failed New Year's resolutions, many of you who took my advice and began short term sales activity goals just after Labor Day have gotten derailed, quit, or given up.
- No problem. Let's reset.
There are 8 full weeks between now and the week that includes Thanksgiving. What can you get done in that time? What sales activity goals can you set? Where will your accountability come from?
5 new business sales calls a day over 8 weeks is 200 total sales calls. Add to that another 5 emails to existing accounts discussing other products and services you provide, and you have doubled your activity to 400.
The benefits of taking this advice are both instant (the good feelings which come from such daily goal setting will permeate through the rest of your sales tasks) to longer term (read: sales in Q1 of 2025).
The results of not taking this advice? Well, I hope sales are going well for you otherwise you will keep getting what you've been getting.
As someone who is taking his own advice and has dramatically ramped up sales activity, I can tell you firsthand it's a challenge to keep it going. However, I can also tell you first hand there is great satisfaction from checking boxes and adding the word “Done!” to those tasks in my spreadsheet.
To paraphrase my favorite Japanese proverb, the best time to begin a program of increased sales activity was a month ago. The second-best time is today.
Happy Reset Monday everybody!
