Roland to Debut Texart 64-Inch Dye Sublimation Wide-Format Printer With Up to Eight Colors at SGIA
IRVINE, CA—October 6, 2014—Roland has introduced the 64" Texart RT-640, an advanced dye-sublimation transfer printer featuring print control technology, ErgoSoft Roland Edition RIP software, and a choice of four- or eight-color ink configurations.
According to Lily Hunter, Roland product manager, the Texart RT-640 incorporates a host of technological advancements that optimize sublimation transfer output while minimizing running costs. "Both the printer and our new specially formulated inks are highly innovative," Hunter said. "Previously, colors sublimated to fabrics could look distorted with dull blacks, missing grays and fuzzy details. The RT-640’s variable droplet technology in combination with Roland Texart dye sublimation ink displays bold, vibrant colors and rich velvety blacks, as well as subtle gradations and fine details."
The Texart RT-640 incorporates a gold-plated, anti-static print head capable of printing seven different droplet sizes for smooth gradations and denser color. A newly designed feed adjuster which, in combination with a more powerful fan and an included TU-3 take-up system, ensures added stability for high-speed printing up to 351 square feet per hour.
Roland’s RT-640 is equipped with a bulk ink system that uses airtight-sealed pouches of one liter each. The Roland Ink Switching System allows users to load a fresh pouch without stopping the printer. In four-color CMYK mode, this system provides two liters per color and automatically switches to a backup ink pouch when the primary pouch runs out.
ErgoSoft Roland Edition RIP is a powerful tool for either four (CMYK) or eight-color (CMYKLcLmOrVi) ink configurations. "Adding Orange and Violet inks increases color gamut and allows for exceptional reds, oranges, deep blues and purples, while Light Cyan and Light Magenta provide subtle gradations and beautiful skin tones," added Hunter.
Increased convenience and ease-of-use is provided by new Roland Printer Assist—a system that enables the operator to manage production, test-printing and cleaning functions directly from an iPad tablet from virtually anywhere within their shop.
Additional user-friendly features include media loading levers at both the front and back of the printer and media brackets that make loading even the heaviest media rolls a simple task.
"We built the RT-640 to answer user demand for a high production sublimation printer that’s affordable, reliable, inexpensive to run and easy to operate," relayed Hunter. "The RT-640 delivers on all of these fronts, offering users both high quality performance and unbeatable value."
The Texart RT-640 printer is backed up by a Two-Year Trouble-Free Warranty and Roland’s service and support. Roland owners and users can also take advantage of useful resources available through the Roland Academy, including Webinars, videos and hands-on instruction covering everything from printer basics to advanced applications and production techniques.
The Texart RT-640 will debut in the Americas at the 2014 SGIA Expo in Las Vegas, Oct. 22-24.
