Roland Introduces the New VersaEXPRESS RF-640 Large-Format Inkjet Printer
IRVINE, CA—July 3, 2014—Roland has introduced the new VersaEXPRESS RF-640, an advanced, high-speed large-format inkjet printer offering sharp print quality and production capability at an extremely affordable price.
Roland’s RF-640 incorporates a gold-plated print head, a robust take-up system, innovative features and high-density Eco-Sol MAX 2 inks to deliver sharp graphic results while maximizing output, ease-of-use and efficiency. Roland Intelligent Pass Control precisely controls dot placement, working hand-in-hand with GREENGUARD Gold certified Eco-Sol MAX 2 to ensure rich prints with virtually no banding on a wide range of substrates. The RF-640 is also engineered to optimize production and minimize running costs. This design enables the RF-640 to produce rich, vivid prints at speeds of up to 48.5m2/h (521.9 ft2/h), with an ink savings of up to 20 percent compared to previous models.
Productivity is enhanced by the RF-640’s new Roland Ink Switching System, which supports continuous, unattended printing by allowing users to load a backup cartridge that automatically discharges ink to the printer when the primary cartridge is empty. Also increasing convenience and user-friendliness is new Roland Printer Assist—a system that enables the user to manage production, test-printing and cleaning functions directly from an iPad tablet.
Other features that further increase the RF-640’s ease-of-use and operational effectiveness include front-loading ink cartridges, media loading levers at both the front and back of the printer, and media brackets that make loading even the heaviest media rolls a simple task. A take-up unit is also included for added production capability and convenience.
“We built the RF-640 to answer user demand for a high production printer that’s affordable, reliable, inexpensive to run and easy to operate,” said Roland DGA product manager Eric Zimmerman. The VersaEXPRESS delivers on all of these fronts, offering users both high quality performance and unbeatable value.”
The RF-640 comes bundled with Roland’s powerful VersaWorks RIP software, which provides advanced productivity tools for optimizing image quality and workflow, including built-in Pantone spot color libraries. A Spot Color Replacement Tool lets you automatically convert a Pantone spot color in the design file to a CMYK value for accurate reproduction on the RF-640 without reopening the source file. VersaWorks can operate up to four Roland devices and also includes a Predictive Ink Calculator that estimates the amount of ink needed to complete each job so users can plan accordingly.
For trouble-free unattended printing, there’s Roland OnSupport, which automatically sends e-mail or text messages to your computer or smart phone when a print job is complete or ink is running low. This system also makes downloading firmware updates and important product information quick and easy.
Priced at $16,995 (MSRP), the VersaEXPRESS RF-640 is available now through authorized Roland dealers. Every VersaEXPRESS RF-640 printer is backed up by a Two-Year Trouble-Free Warranty and Roland’s world-class service and support. Roland owners and users can also take advantage of useful resources available through the Roland Academy, including free Webinars, videos and hands-on instruction covering everything from printer basics to advanced applications and production techniques.
