RR Donnelley Acquires Genesis, Expands Facility
CHICAGO—RR Donnelley has acquired Lemont, IL-based Genesis Packaging & Design, a full-service provider of custom packaging, including design, printing, diecutting, finishing and assembly.
Beyond packaging production, Genesis offers a broad spectrum of services, including the design and production of point-of-purchase displays and signage. The operation features a range of value-added capabilities, including the ability to print and coat on the inside of packaging products, which is especially attractive to customers in the food and beverage industry.
"We continue to expand our capabilities to serve our customers' packaging and merchandising needs," said John Paloian, RR Donnelley's COO. "The addition of Genesis complements our platform with a centrally located facility, a superb range of capabilities and deep experience. Genesis enhances our ability to serve packaged food and beverage producers, pharmaceutical companies, consumer electronics manufacturers, retailers, consumer packaged goods producers, educational publishers and a range of other customers."
In other company news, RR Donnelley is making a capital investment of $6 million and creating 105 new jobs at its facility in Owensville, MO, by the end of 2011, Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon's office announced. Donnelley currently employs 340 workers at the plant.
To help RR Donnelley move ahead with its expansion plans, the state of Missouri authorized an economic incentive package worth $1.46 million, including a community development block grant of $566,389 that will be utilized to pave a new support road in the Owensville Industrial Park.
The printer can also redeem $558,019 in Missouri Quality Jobs program incentives during the next three years, provided it meets the requirements of that program. Other incentives include $150,000 in development tax credits and recruitment and training assistance.
