BOHEMIA, NY—March 20, 2012—Sustainable Green Printing Partnership (SGP), a non-profit organization providing sustainability certification in the graphic communications industry, announces that the wide- and grand-format/retail visual merchandising facility of Sandy Alexander is SGP Certified. The Clifton, NJ-based facility specializes in out-of-home advertising and retail visual merchandising.
SGP Certification demonstrates to Sandy Alexander’s vendors and suppliers that the company strives to be socially responsible and makes a significant effort to protect the environment. The certification also solidifies the company’s leadership position and complements its environmental efforts with an even broader focus on social responsibility.
Many of Sandy Alexander’s clients recognize the importance of SGP Certification. The company expects the certification to have a positive impact on its business through an increase in sales and an even greater focus on sustainability.
“Sandy Alexander is committed to continuous improvement and to leading the graphic communications industry by example,” comments Sandy Alexander President and CEO Mike Graff. “By implementing changes that reduce our environmental footprint, without compromising the quality and service for which Sandy Alexander is known, and by transparently reporting on our environmental goals and performance, we are demonstrating to our many stakeholder groups that sustainability is a sound-and desirable--business practice.”
“SGP Certification is another significant achievement for Sandy Alexander. It demonstrates their commitment to being one of the most sustainable printing companies,” states Gary Jones, SGP Technical Committee Chair and board member. “Sandy is a well known pioneer in the sustainability movement for print facilities, and the SGP certification provides the recognition to meet the growing supply chain requirements for more sustainable printing.”
Sandy Alexander is aware of the impact that its business decisions have on the environment--from its choice of ink and paper to the shipping of finished products and the handling of printed waste. With SGP Certification, the company will continually reduce its environmental impact, while demonstrating that environmental responsibility is a sound business practice.
In addition to its SGP Certification, Sandy Alexander holds third party certification for 100% wind energy, tri-certification for chain-of-custody paper (FSC, SFI, PEFC), and ISO 14001 certification. The division prints on a range of sustainable substrates in addition to the standard digital and photographic papers, vinyl, and rigid materials.
