SCREEN and Mondi Collaborate to Showcase Sustainable Paper-Based Packaging at Drupa 2024
SCREEN is excited to announce a strategic collaboration with Mondi, a global leader in paper and packaging solutions, to promote and accelerate the market development of Paper-based applications in the flexible packaging industry. This collaboration will be prominently featured at the upcoming Drupa 2024 exhibition, where both companies will demonstrate the potential of sustainable packaging solutions.
Innovative Paper-Based Packaging Solutions
At Drupa 2024, SCREEN’s Truepress PAC520P inkjet digital printing press will be showcased, utilizing Mondi’s FunctionalBarrier Paper 95/5 heat sealable uncoated paper, generously donated by Mondi for the event, which is fully recyclable, aligning with the increasing demand for eco-friendly packaging solutions driven by sustainability concerns and consumer preferences.
Live Demonstrations Highlighting Versatility and Sustainability
Throughout the exhibition, live demonstrations will feature the production of jellybean packages in various flavors (SKUs), leveraging the Truepress PAC520P’s advanced printing capabilities and package design freedom. One of the highlights will be the variable data printing (VDP) feature, where the central jellybeans on each package will change color randomly, highlighting the press’s ability to effortlessly formulate custom, eye-catching designs on the fly.
Inkjet digital printing, exemplified by SCREEN’s Truepress PAC520P, is the ideal technology to accelerate the fast-growing market trajectory toward paper-based packaging. The benefits include:
Flexibility and Speed: Digital printing allows quick turnaround times and more efficient management of multiple SKUs, making it perfect for dynamic markets and short production runs.
Reduced Waste and Environmental Impact: Digital printing eliminates the need for plates and reduces setup waste, making it a more sustainable option than traditional printing.
Energy Efficiency: The Truepress PAC520P consumes less energy during production, contributing to a lower carbon footprint and aligning with global sustainability goals.
High-Quality Customization: The press’s variable data printing capabilities enable high-quality, personalized packaging, meeting the diverse needs of consumers and brands alike.
“This collaboration with Mondi allows us to demonstrate the full potential of our Truepress PAC520P digital printing press in creating sustainable, recyclable and high-quality paper-based packaging solutions,” said Juan Cano, Business Development Director-Flexible Packaging at SCREEN.
