SCREEN Truepress Jet520 Customers Share Impetus for Adopting Inkjet Technology
As if the steady, heavy crowds at SCREEN Americas exhibit during last Fall’s PRINTING United trade show weren’t enough, a number of the innovative inkjet company’s customers made the event more impactful with their honest and eye-opening comments recorded live within the packed booth.
As each customer representative took their turn in front of the camera, reasons behind their decisions to integrate Truepress inkjet technology into their successful and growing operations became clear. Just as noteworthy was the fact that SCREEN was officially recognizing the milestone worldwide installation of its 1,500th High Speed Continuous Speed Press, sold either by SCREEN or its OEM partners. Several of those customers toasted their roles in the celebration of the achievement as the 1,500th, 1,501st, 1,502nd, etc., press engine sold since the technology’s inception.
A video (see below to view it) marking the confluence of visitors to the SCREEN exhibit, the landmark achievement of the 1,500+ units sold and the live excitement of satisfied customers being interviewed and opening up about their experiences involving SCREEN’s technology, seemed only fitting.
Who were those engaging SCREEN Truepress Jet520 customers, anyway? And what problems had they faced, prompting them to investigate, embrace and ultimately purchase SCREEN’s high-speed inkjet technology as a solution? Everything Marketing’s, Joben Murray, VP of digital marketing integration at the Louisiana-based marketing firm got right to the point.
“We got into high-volume variable print, printing between five and ten million postcards per week. At our peak, 22 toner-based machines were on duty 22 hours per day/2 shifts, just trying to keep up with the volume. The obvious overtime, plus realizing the challenge of spreading a single job across various machines was when we started looking at inkjet. We needed a better, faster solution that could handle the volume without sacrificing quality,” Murray explained.
“Our Truepress 520 has provided the volume we needed. Plus our customers are excited,” claims Murray. “We are proud to be a SCREEN customer.” Murray also revealed that the president of his organization was actually shocked by the print quality of the SCREEN device, based on previous digital output he had seen.
Another revelation came from Dori Giglio, president, ACCESS Direct Mail, a mail solutions company and TPJ520 customer in Sarasota, FL, whose first inkjet purchase was indeed SCREEN’s landmark 1,500th series machine sold. “Over the years we accumulated a six-color offset press and a lot of digital, including eight (8) digital toner presses… so there were a lot of clicks going through there,” explained Giglio. Unfortunately, over time, their workflow no longer matched their print solutions. “I knew we needed to make a change, improve productivity and do something more than paying for all of these clicks… which is when we considered inkjet,” she added.
The SCREEN Truepress Jet520 HD inkjet web press ACCESS DM purchased, fully leverage the speed advantages of digital technology while providing broad opportunities for variable data, full color and printing on offset stock without need for pretreating.
Giglio disclosed she gave a number of companies the exact same file and asked them to provide print samples. “We laid all of the samples side-by-side for comparison. Nothing even came close to what SCREEN printed on the Truepress,” she said. “SCREEN even took me through justifying the purchase by itemizing the costs and expenses, making sure that the 520 was a true fit for our company.”
Tidewater Direct, a direct mail supplier to the trades headquartered in Centerville, Md., noticed a landscape change when their trade customers, themselves, began moving toward inkjet options. “That was the moment we decided we needed to get into inkjet technology,” Geoff Eisenberg, Tidewater EVP, confessed. “We really liked the promise that SCREEN had with the SC Inks, allowing us to utilize the stock we already had on the floor, without the need to purchase additional treated, coated stock. With the TPJ520HD, ”We’ve found new business we never had, and projects we never would be able to produce if not for the SCREEN solution.”
Also voicing their approvals of their SCREEN machines and sharing their experiences with the Truepress technology on camera were representatives from Moore DM Group, Tulsa, Okla., and Prisma Graphics, Phoenix. In addition, owners and executives from FSSI and Wolverine Solutions Group, too, whose recent Truepress Jet 520 purchases are instrumental to their successes, joined in the celebration of SCREEN’s 1500-press milestone achievement and are counted among the growing number of satisfied customers who have made SCREEN one of the leading and most respected print technology companies.
