The COVID-19 pandemic has brought to the public’s attention the professional challenges of many individuals and organizations, including the U.S. Postal Service, which is facing funding shortfalls and fearful workers as the malady has spread. Thanks to a former employee, the agency is receiving a boost through T-shirts and hoodie sales, with her family’s print shop creating and shipping the garments.
Based in Wyoming, Michigan, Triple-J’s has added the items to the featured products section of its website, pricing them at $15 and $25. As a part of the initiative to build up the U.S. Postal Service, which is suffering under a significant financial burden, Becky Tezeno and her relatives are also channeling $5 from each purchase toward the purchase of books of stamps. Those buys will then go to local retirement communities. While uncertainty clouds what will become of the agency at large, each gesture that reminds the nation of its importance stands to resonate as an appreciated move, and Tezeno has thus far achieved nearly $700 in sales.
Declaring #SaveTheUSPostalService, the cotton and polyester T-shirts and hoodies will begin shipping on May 6 and bear the hashtagged text in red. Available in California blue, navy and white, they could make for great additions to one’s wardrobe, especially the T-shirts as spring unfolds and summer beckons, and will make for blatant advertisements for the contributions that the U.S. Postal Service provides the public.
As for those tasked with working for the agency, Tezeno, who logged 25 years as an employee, most certainly appreciates their efforts and sees her interactions with former colleagues as “a big part of me being where I am right now in my life.” To a certain extent, we could argue that her sentiment pertains to all of us.
