Shawn Morin, COO at Ingram Content Group, Is Also Named President
NASHVILLE, TN—January 6, 2015—John Ingram, CEO of Ingram Content Group, has announced the appointment of Shawn Morin as president and COO.
Morin has been COO of the company since June, 2012. His additional responsibilities as president are effective immediately.
"Shawn Morin has provided great leadership for our team at Ingram, especially over the past two years," Ingram said. "As much as we’re a distribution business, we’re also a technology business. Shawn is a businessman who is very knowledgeable and fluent in technology, which enables everything we do."
Ingram continued, "This has been a dynamic, forward-moving period for us as we transform into a comprehensive services company that’s providing solutions and services for the entire book industry. We have introduced new services and technology to our customers both domestically and around the globe. Every day Shawn brings the experience, the skills, and the temperament to bear that make for a winning team."
As COO, Morin has been the executive in charge of managing the company’s commercial activities, systems, and operations. The past two years have seen important expansions in the scope of Ingram’s systems that serve publishers, libraries, booksellers and educators worldwide.
The past two years have seen international expansion for Ingram; the introduction of automated print on demand systems in Fresno, CA, and Fairfield, OH; new collaborations between Ingram and allied businesses across the industry, and the launch of IngramSpark, an innovative publishing program for independent publishers.
"There could not be a more dynamic and exciting time to serve the book industry," Morin noted. "Publishers, booksellers, libraries and schools have such important missions, and they face new challenges daily with the pace of technological change. I am proud of the job we do to assist them."
Morin joined the company in 2009 as the chief information officer and was responsible for overseeing the information technology infrastructures and applications for the content group of companies, which include Lightning Source, Ingram Book Company, Vital Source Technologies, and Ingram Publisher Services.
He came to Ingram from Bass Pro Shops, based in Springfield, MO, where he was chief information officer and vice president of information technology. Earlier in his career, he was the lead engineer working on the on-board flight software for the Space Shuttle program at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
Morin received his bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Computer Technology) from the University of South Florida. He and his wife Nancy reside in Franklin, TN.
