SUSSEX, WI—Quad/Graphics will close its plant in Dubuque, IA, by early March, leaving more than 200 employees without work, several sources reported. The plant has changed ownership several times since it opened in 1949. Quad/Graphics obtained the facility in 2010.
In a release, Quad spokesperson Claire Ho cited the softness of the economy and changes in the book industry as two of the main reasons behind the closure. The printer does have numerous job openings across its network, according to Ho. Quad/Graphics will assist the impacted 215 employees in finding new work, in addition to providing a separation package.
