Southwest Precision Printers Adds Heidelberg Press to Meet Increased Customer Demand
HOUSTON—Feb. 24, 2012—In response to increased customer demand, Southwest Precision Printers (SWP), Houston’s largest commercial printer, has purchased a new Heidelberg CD 102 sheetfed press, which will boost its production capacity by 50 percent.
“As we continue to grow, it’s imperative that we have the right equipment to meet our increasing customer demand,” says SWP owner and President Tim Tully. “Our local economy has been on the upswing lately and that has led us to answering the resurging economy with an investment.”
The Greater Houston Partnership recently reported that Houston added nearly 80,000 new jobs over the past two years with another 5,000 expected this year. Houston’s economy is recovering and one of the signs of that recovery can be seen by the growth of local businesses.
Heidelberg is the worldwide leading provider of solutions for the print media industry, which explains why this is the sixth Heidelberg press that SWP has purchased in its 37 years of business. The Heidelberg name is internationally associated with leading technology, which is what makes its equipment so attractive to SWP.
“This new press gives us the newest Heidelberg technology, which in turn increases our capacity by as much as 50 percent. What this means to our customers is that we can be more efficient and turn jobs quicker,” says Tully.
The company’s president has always put an emphasis on utilizing the latest technologies available that will help take SWP to the next level. This commitment was recently proven by the its website redesign, which made the site more user-friendly and easier to navigate.
By investing in the newest technology, SWP has maintained a cutting-edge lead in the printing industry over the last three decades. Just last year, Tully decided to add two new digital machines to the shop’s Digital Pressroom. The HP Indigo 3550 and the Ricoh Pro C901 digital color presses have both proven to deliver exceptional quality and performance for SWP.
“We are very excited about the direction we’re taking at Southwest Precision,” reports Tully. “Our goal has always been to provide quality products with the best possible service to our clients. Now that we have the latest technology at our fingertips, I think we can be even better at doing this.”
