Specialty Print Communications Upgrades to CMYK on Prosper S10 Imprinting Systems
ROCHESTER, NY—Sept. 20—Specialty Print Communications (SPC) of Niles, IL, is installing CMYK capability on four of its Kodak Prosper S10 inkjet imprinting systems. The company uses eight additional Prosper S10 monochrome imprinting systems in its state-of-the-art production facility, along with three Kodak Nexpress digital production color presses and two Kodak Versamark DS6240 printing systems..
“Today’s marketers know more about their consumers than ever before,” noted Adam LeFebvre, president of SPC, “so being able to customize direct mail with that information makes it much more effective. And being able to customize in full color, with high quality, makes it even better. This new capability will set us apart from our competitors.”
“Our adoption of CMYK capability for the Prosper S10 System enables us to maximize our capital investments in offset printing equipment,” explained Dustin LeFebvre, executive vice president of Marketing, SPC. “The industry is very competitive, and we need to position ourselves for success by making the most of every opportunity. Kodak has been a great partner over the years—helping us identify opportunities for revenue and profit growth.”
The Prosper S10 system is designed to enable part-page and full-page variable print inline at full speeds with a web offset press or web finishing line. With the process color capability in the Prosper S10 System, print and marketing service providers are now able to leverage the specialty printing capabilities of offset—including metallics, heavy color saturation, scratch-off coatings, and other specialty inks—to create a high-value product that can be customized with process color imaging inline at high production speeds. This is ideal for direct mail pieces, catalogs, and other custom publishing solutions.
“Personalization is known to drive a higher response and a more robust return on marketing investment (ROMI), and this Kodak Solution gives customers a game-changing bridge between high-value offset color and high-quality full-color variable communications imprinting in the hybrid environment,” said Ronen Cohen, Vice President, Inkjet Printing Solutions, Kodak. “SPC is always looking to add value for its clients and this is the next logical step.”
The Kodak Prosper S10 System, which uses Kodak Stream Inkjet Technology, was launched earlier this year as a monochrome imprinting system for delivering offset class variable data applications produced inline with web offset presses and finishing equipment at up to 1,000 fpm/305 mpm. With flexible mounting options, it integrates seamlessly with web offset presses and web finishing lines using a variety of third-party printing towers to add variable data to offset printed materials at a resolution of 600 dpi.
The solution features a print width of 4.16 inches/10.56 cm. and pigment-based process color inks that offer fade, scratch, and water resistance, increasing throughput and eliminating the need for additional standalone equipment.
