Sport Graphics Creates 267x165-Ft. NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament Bracket (Includes Video)
INDIANAPOLIS—March 17, 2015—Sport Graphics, a commercial printer that specializes in sports-related printing for customers across the country, has produced a 267x165-foot sign that was mounted on the JW Marriott based here, showing this year's NCAA men's basketball tournament bracket. The massive graphic was produced on an EFI VUTEk HS100 Pro high-speed digital UV inkjet wide-format press (which makes a cameo in this video), and Sport Graphics will be updating the entire graphic throughout the NCAA tournament. The firm is also producing signage work nationally for this year's NCAA basketball championship.
“I see this on my screen for months on end and to finally go downtown and see it on a building larger than life—that’s what’s fulfilling,” Kyle Eaker, senior creative director at Sport Graphics, told Fox 59. Eaker added that the idea for the bracket came to fruition about two months ago.
Michael Poe, director of signage and production at Sport Graphics, explained that this is the first time that Sport Graphics has created an interactive graphic on the side of a building.
According to Fox 59, the work started on Selection Sunday, where the names of the teams were printed on window vinyl and then Monday crews pasted the names of all 68 teams on the front of the hotel. Each Monday the bracket will then be updated with the weekend’s results, tracking the road to the Final Four championship that ends in Indianapolis.
