Steven's Printing Improves Production Quality with Heidelberg Prepress System
KENNESAW, Ga. - January 4, 2018 - Steven’s Printing of Pleasant Hill, Calif., recently upgraded its prepress department by installing the Suprasetter A52 Gen III CtP with Saphira ND 100 plates and Prinect workflow from Heidelberg.
Compact, Ecological and Reliable CtP
With its workflow volume increasing, Steven’s Printing needed a new CtP device to keep up with its new capacity requirement. Fully equipped with the technology of a high-end machine and the smallest platesetter in its class, the Suprasetter A52 was the perfect choice to increase production without having to restructure their shop.
“We only have one person in prepress,” said Steve Clark, owner of Steven’s Printing. “We needed a machine to relieve some of the manual labor. With the Suprasetter, it does most of the work on its own. The CtP device will be producing plates while we are prepping other files.”
The Suprasetter A52 uses the same laser technology as all other Suprasetter series. Through the use of the Intelligent Diode System, if a diode fails, the operation can continue. These laser systems, developed exclusively by Heidelberg, deliver reliable imaging quality.
Using the lowest heat output and energy usage in its class, the Suprasetter A52 also makes a huge impact on Steven Printing’s energy output. Additionally, the Suprasetter A52 only requires the pressroom to be below 86° F, so it does not need extra cooling to run.
New Saphira ND 100 Plates and Prinect Workflow Completes the Package
The Saphira ND 100 plates also improve Steven’s Printing’s ecological footprint by completely eliminating the use of chemistry. The company no longer needs a processor because the plates are optimized for direct on-press capabilities, which drastically cuts down on waste and maintenance.
“The ND 100 plates are fantastic,” said Clark. “The quality has gone up. There is a much sharper or cleaner dot. We haven’t had to rerun one plate.”
Alongside the company's Suprasetter, Steven’s Printing has Prinect Prepress Manager with Signa Station. Signa Station is the world’s leading solution for impositioning and assembling sheets and is a central component of the integrated Prinect workflow.
“Our Prinect software has definitely been a helpful tool,” concluded Clark. “We have more control and a more consistent product regardless of how the job is printed.”
