Summa Showcases the Perfect Cut

BEVERLY, Mass. - May 9, 2018 - At FESPA 2018 Summa will be revealing its latest innovations on their cutting finishing systems at booth B21 in hall 4.2. Beside their renowned gamut of roll cutters (S Class 2 & SummaCut series) and the F1612 flatbed finishing system, Summa will also highlight their new flatbed size, the F1832, as well as a whole new array of features and innovations.
With a working area of 184 cm wide the F1832 flatbed finishing system has the ideal size to process popular material widths to provide the digital printing industry with a robust finishing solution. This popular working area is a perfect match to cut 150 cm wide roll material and 152 x 304 cm rigid board material. Moreover, the productive durability of Summa’s rotary tool ensures the F1832 is ready to conquer also the textile market with the ability to cut the popular textile size of 183cm.
Considering the above, it goes without saying the F1832 is the ideal workhorse to offer numerous high-end cut solutions within the sign making, textile and digital print industries. Moreover, many add-ons and features on the F1832, such as the standard conveyor, ADC, Tandem Mode, camera system, vacuum zones etc. further expand the capabilities of the F1832 and lead to substantial increase of productivity. Also on display on the Summa booth will be Summa’s F1612 flatbed cutter.
Both flatbed cutters hold a wide range of specialty tools and modules. Offering the ultimate in versatility, these tools deliver power, speed and accuracy to handle a wide range of materials, such as aluminum composite sheet, foam board, wallpaper, honeycomb board, corrugated cardboard,pvc, etc.
A new update in the Axis Control software, Poster Trim ensures posters can be trimmed without the need to retrieve the design via SummaFlex Pro. With the new feature in the Axis Control software, Operator Zone, which is applicable on all F Series models, the F Series working area can be divided into two separate zones: a cut zone and an operator zone. As the cutting head doesn’t move any further than the cut zone, the operator can attend to the processed material safely at the front of the machine (operator zone). Everyone will welcome this new feature with open arms because it will boost your productivity, optimize your workflow substantially and save you lots of precious time.
The Continuous Sheet Feed feature will facilitate the processing of multiple sheets. The feature, which is applicable on the F1612 flatbed finishing system, enables to transport material from the loading area towards the working area automatically and repetitively.
With Summa’s extension tables, in front and at the back of the flatbed system, the operator can load and unload material whilst cutting. Thanks to these extension tables, it is also possible to process board material longer than the F1612 working area. The Conveyor System ensures the processed material will be transported into the waste basket or extension table in front, keeping your working space clean at all time. Moreover, the use of both the front and rear extension tables, in combination with the Continuous Sheet Feed mode, will add significant value to your overall workflow and increase flexibility substantially.
SummaFlex Pro 2, the successor software of SummaFlex Pro, features an optional material database, that can be linked with different Summa flatbed cutting systems. With the SummaFlex Pro 2 (SFP2), in combination with the optional material database, it is no longer necessary to specify the necessary tools during set-up.
The designer (Print&Cut) or operator (only cutting) only needs to select the kind of result (methods) he wants to achieve: cut, crease, fold, perforate etc. The material database of the SFP2 will automatically recognize the predetermined material and parameters and will subsequently select the necessary tool in the database. The only thing the operator needs to do is import the file. Changes in the material database, such as adding or fine tuning material, can easily be done at all time.
So, whether it be a Print&Cut workflow or a Cut Only workflow, a user-friendly, transparant and straightforward workflow, adjusted to the operator’s own needs, is guaranteed!
And whilst we’re at it, Summa will also reveal following improvement on their S Class 2 roll cutter series: The G-Performance mode, which will be showcased on the S2T160 model of Summa’s S2 Series during the FESPA event, is especially designed to increase the performance of digital finishing operations on the S2 roll cutters up to 40%.
The advantages include faster cutting speeds on wider substrates and faster reading of the registration marks. Especially within large industrial environments this G-Performance feature will show its benefits and give your overall workflow a serious boost. All the above and a lot more (short load mode, OPOS XYY compensation, dog ear functionality, etc..) will show off the countless applications, possible on Summa’s finishing cutting systems and the endless workflow solutions that come with it: photoframes, packaging (boxes), banners, bibs, diorama’s, posters, stickers,etc.
