Heidelberg Showcases Equipment Range
CRANBURY, NJ—Heidelberg USA held an open house here at its Tech Center East showroom early last month, attracting about 150 people. Demonstrations of equipment included its Suprasetter thermal and Prosetter violet CTP platesetters, Quickmaster DI 46-4 Pro with smart spooling mechanism and Speedmaster SM 52-5P+L with retractable in-line coating unit presses, Stitchmaster ST 100 saddlestitcher, Stahlfolder TH series folder and Polar 115 XT cutter, among others.
Seminars held the same day featured Bill Bonallo, technotrans america, on trends in UV coatings; Mark Tonkovich, Heidelberg USA, on thermal platesetter innovations; and Paul Keuchenius, Heidelberg USA, on long perfecting press innovations.
KBA North America has named four new district sales managers across the country. Angel Beltran del Rio is based in Los Angeles as a district sales manager. Ed Heffernan is the new district sales manager for the metropolitan New York region. Gerald Whitlow is the new district sales manager for northern Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana. He is based in Atlanta. Michael Bates is the new district sales manager for northern California, northern Nevada and Oregon.
Muller Martini announced the appointment of Douglas Stryker to the position of division manager for the company's U.S. Print Finishing division. Stryker formerly spent 17 years with Fry Communications.
Roosevelt Paper has hired Mike Rogles as an outside sales representative for its St. Louis-based territory. He will cover southern Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Des Moines, IA, and Colorado.
The Sabin Robbins Paper Co., a converter/distributor of fine printing papers, announced new appointments to its staff. Stuart Bauman is the new CFO of the Cincinnati-based company. Bauman, who has been with Sabin Robbins for six years, succeeds Peter Countryman, who has retired after 30 years as treasurer and CFO. Taking over Bauman's former position as controller is Pamadja (PJ) Barker.
Regis J. Delmontagne, president of NPES The Association for Suppliers of Printing, Publishing and Converting Technologies, recently became only the second foreign leader to receive an honorary doctorate from Moscow State University of the Printing Arts. University Rector Alexander Tsyganenko said the award to Delmontagne was merited by "the support he has given to the Russian printing industry and the university's programs." Tsyganenko specifically cited the recent initiative at the NPES American Technology Print Center in Moscow to produce graphic communications textbooks for donation to the university's printing programs.
Bob Boyer Sr. has been named senior vice president of sales for Heidelberg USA. Boyer has also been appointed to Heidelberg's executive management team. A Heidelberg employee for nearly 27 years, Boyer most recently served as vice president for Heidelberg's South and Southwest regions.
Steve Miller has been named commercial technical manager for Kohl & Madden (K&M), the commercial inks division of Sun Chemical North American Inks. Miller will lead K&M's new sheetfed/commercial applications and development lab in Northlake, IL. Prior to this promotion, he was K&M's color systems technical manager.
Two marketing communications agencies serving the graphic arts industry, New York City-based NAK Marketing & Communications and Germany-based Symbiotix Marketing Services, have joined forces to provide international marketing communications programs for their graphic arts clients. The new partnering agreement allows an NAK or a Symbiotix client to make full use of both agencies' resources worldwide, yet still benefit from the power of a unified marketing strategy.
James E. "Jack" Pruitt has joined the board of directors of Goss International. Pruitt is a former chairman and CEO of Harris Graphics.
