American Loose Leaf has appointed Cindy Stevenson as the new production manager for its St. Louis facility. Stevenson has more than 30 years of experience in the ring binder industry and has been with American Loose Leaf for 20 years.
John MacKay has acquired all outstanding shares of Feuiltault Machinery from its founder, Martin Feuiltault. Mr. Feuiltault will remain with the company as a member of the company's technological orientation committee. MacKay will assume the position of president.
International Paper's 2005 Best on Press Awards will feature $14,000 in prizes to 21 winners. Work printed on IP brands during the 2004 calendar year is eligible for the third-annual printing contest. Entries must be postmarked by February 28. Kodak Versamark, part of Kodak's Graphic Communications Group, has appointed Marc Johnson to director of industry marketing. In this role, Johnson will work with Kodak Versamark's sales, product and marketing teams to promote the company's digital printing solutions to print providers, print specifiers, influencers and industry associations.
Willis Hawrylkiw, a principle of Mix & Match Printing Ink and Pro-Line Printing Ink, was the recipient of the Z.A. Prust Industry Achievement Award presented by the Printing Industries Association of Arizona.
Weyerhaeuser Co. has promoted Michael A. Jackson to senior vice president, Pulp and White Paper. He succeeds Michael Onustock, who retired. Richard Thomas has been named vice president, Fine Paper, succeeding Jackson in that role.
The Graphic Arts Marketing Information Service (GAMIS) selected Dr. Joseph Webb, president of Strategies for Management, Harrisville, RI, as the recipient of the Neil Richards Visionary Leadership Award. Dr. Webb received the award during the GAMIS quarterly meeting held in December.
Agfa-Gevaert and NELA announced that Agfa's wholly owned subsidiary, Lastra America, has sold to NELA Ternes Register Group substantially all of the assets related to Lastra's punch and bender business. Under the terms of the purchase agreement NELA will, among other things, assume worldwide warranty and service responsibility for the installed base of Lastra's punch and bender equipment
Pitman Co., an independent graphic arts supplier, announced the merger of its Eastern Pennsylvania operations, located in Exton, PA, with the H. David Siegfried Co., located in Philadelphia. The combined company will be located in Exton.
Facilities that run MAN Roland sheetfed models can cost-effectively enhance the reliability of their pressrooms by participating in a remanufactured pump and blower program that the pressmaker launched recently. Designed as an alternative to the costly replacement of a new pump, the remanufactured initiative features rebuilds by OEM authorized rebuilder Rietschle/Thomas. The program covers most models, including Becker pumps.
Neenah Paper recently completed a tax-free spin-off from Kimberly-Clark. Neenah Paper common stock began trading on a standalone basis December 1, 2004. The new public company includes Neenah Paper, a premium writing, text and cover business; Technical Paper, a producer of durable, saturated and coated base papers; and a Canadian pulp business.
Gina Testa, vice president, Customer Business Development, Worldwide Graphic Communications Industry Business, Xerox Corp., was appointed as the marketing committee chairperson for the Print Council, a business development industry alliance dedicated to promote the greater use of print media. Testa will be responsible for overseeing the council's marketing activities including media relations, advertising and promotion and direct mail.
Friedrich Lüllau, managing director of basysPrint, has left the company to pursue other interests. Dr. Horst Steppat was assigned to take his place as managing director. Dr. Steppat worked for various prepress manufacturers in the past, including Heidelberg.
Mohawk Paper Mills has signed a letter of intent to purchase the Fine Papers Business from International Paper. Terms of the transaction are not being disclosed. In other Mohawk news, Lynn McCarthy has been named district sales manager for Metro New York and New Jersey.
Sun Chemical has formed Sun Chemical Security, a new global business unit that will provide a wide range of products used to print packages, documents and currency that incorporate security measures. The unit will also market forensic security systems to ensure authenticity of the products themselves. John Luppino, general manager, will lead Sun Chemical Security.
Océ has promoted four of its executives. Dennis Riordan is now senior vice president and CFO; William Mayer takes over as senior vice president, human resources; Michael Scordino assumes the position of senior vice president, general counsel and secretary; and Daniel Krzesinski is the new senior vice president of service.
