Eastman Kodak's Graphic Communications Group (GCG) announced its new marketing team. The team reports to Barbara Pellow, chief marketing officer and vice president, Graphic Communications Group. The new GCG marketing team is as follows: Christopher Payne, director of product planning and strategy; Eileen McMahon, market planning manager; and Mark Weber, group director of alliances and acquisitions. Segment managers have been appointed to develop marketing programs in Kodak's four key market segments. The segment managers are: Paula Balik, in-plant printing; Andre Hill, corporate data centers and service bureaus; Charles Hura, digital services; and Cheryl Nelan, commercial printing. Also, Anthony Sanzio joins the group as marketing communications director, and Anne Wakeman will support the group as market intelligence manager.
Océ has named Elizabeth Halaki to the position of vice president of marketing for Océ Business Services. In her role, she will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company's marketing.
Nick Gerovac has joined the sales staff at Vits America. He previously sold in-line finishing equipment and auxiliary equipment for web presses and has more than 10 years experience in the graphic arts industry.
Pantone Inc. mourns the death of its longtime Vice President Michael C. Garin. Garin was 64 years old and would have celebrated his 42nd year of service at Pantone this month. He was instrumental in the development and evolution of the PANTONE Matching System. Garin served on several committees of the National Association of Printing Ink Manufacturers and on the Board of Directors of the Metro New York Printing Ink Association.
Rena Systems has announced the appointment of Malon Metz as Southeast regional sales manager. This is Metz's second stint at Rena Systems, having served in the same position at the company from 1994 to 1996.
EFI has opened a customer training facility in its Eagan, MN, office that will provide training for EFI Print MIS products and workflow solutions. Located just 10 minutes from the Minneapolis airport, the facility has three training rooms with new Dell workstations and ViewSonic LCD flat panel displays, along with ceiling-mounted NEC and Proxima projectors. The rooms seat 10, 12 or 25-plus people for seminars on EFI Hagen OA, EFI PrintFlow and other EFI products.
Stora Enso North America announced the launch of its 2004-2005 "What Teams Can Do" competition. "What Teams Can Do" celebrates the best examples of design and printing excellence achieved through teamwork. The 2004-2005 "What Teams Can Do" competition offers teams of designers, printers, specifiers and end users the chance to win a gold, silver or bronze "ESSY" award in two categories: best work, up to three colors; and best work, four colors and up. Three winning entries will be selected in each of the two categories next spring. Other prizes also are available. Entries must be produced between March 31, 2004, and March 31, 2005, using Stora Enso's Centura or Productolith grades. All entries must be postmarked by midnight March 31, 2005, to be eligible for the 2004-2005 competition.
Dosatron International has hired Jon Dunham as a Midwest regional sales manager. His territory includes Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, Kansas and Missouri and he will be based out of Lee's Summit, MO.
Handschy Industries has opened a new facility in Nashville, TN. It is the company's fifth location servicing the printing and packaging industry. It has also launched an interactive Website at www.handschy.com.
The operations of Roll Systems and the Stralfors Lasermax division will merge. BÖWE SYSTEC, the parent company of Roll Systems, and Stralfors AB have signed a letter of intent aiming for a jointly controlled entity. The combined annual sales will be about 45 million euros with about 200 employees. Its headquarters will be in Ljungby, Sweden. In other news, William Carroll has been appointed president of Roll Systems. A nine-year employee, Carroll most recently held the position of vice president of engineering and operations.
Xinet Inc. named technology management veteran H. Peter Felgentreff as vice president of sales.
Diamond Holding Corp. is launching a telephone sales and marketing initiative for its Diamond Roller division. Louise Irwin has been promoted to the position of sales service consultant. The company also appointed David Ibarra to the position of technical sales representative, Western region. Ibarra will be responsible for Diamond Roller's sales efforts on the West Coast.
KBA North America has assumed the exclusive distribution rights in the U.S. and Canada to Metronic AG, a German manufacturer. KBA North America's parent company, the KBA Group, recently acquired a majority stake in Metronic AG.
Muller Martini has appointed Richard Allart to head its sales operations in Indiana and Michigan, to provide printers and binderies in those states with stitching, perfect binding and press delivery technology.
Mohawk Paper Mills has announced the winners of the fifth annual Mohawk Show, which honors work produced on Mohawk paper. Five winning pieces were chosen among 900 entries. The winners were: Michael Jada at the Center for Editions at SUNY, Purchase, NY (one- to three-color category); Cenveo Anderson-Art, San Francisco (four-plus color category); Utopia Printing, Hong Kong (four-plus color category); RAAD Graphic Arts, Saddle Brook, NJ (four-plus color category); and Primary Color, Culver City, CA (Dimensional).
Presstek Inc. has appointed Mark McElhinney to the position of president of Lasertel Inc., Presstek's Tucson, AZ, subsidiary. McElhinney has been the interim COO since April.
