Sappi Fine Paper North America has named John Donahue managing director of its Somerset pulp and paper mill in Skowhegan, ME. Donahue succeeds Doug Daniels, who will retire in September. John Martis will assume management of the Sappi mill in Westbrook, ME, taking over for Donahue.
Heidelberg is now offering GTO, Quickmaster 46 and Speedmaster SM52 users the Polysetter 46 or Polysetter 52 polyester platesetter in two-up format, a move that closes the gap for computer-to-plate (CTP) newcomers. This means that Heidelberg print service providers who specialize in runs of up to 20,000 in A3 format now have the means to move cost-effectively into the CTP workflow below the level of the Prosetter violet imagesetter range. For the sale of the Polysetter 46 and Polysetter 52, Heidelberg has signed an OEM contract with Esko-Graphics. Also, Frank Woods has been added to Heidelberg's consulting services for sheetfed, digital, prepress and finishing customers. Woods is the retired president and founder of Woods Lithographics in Phoenix.
