Stora Enso has announced the opening of its new Southern California regional distribution center in Montebello, just south of Los Angeles.
Len Cammalleri is MAN Roland’s new district sales manager in New York and New Jersey. He has held senior sales and management posts with Hell Graphic Systems, Linotype, Polaroid and Hewlett-Packard. Meanwhile, Gerald Whitlow takes over as district sales manager in Georgia, Tennessee and Kentucky.
Diamond Holding Corp. has appointed Matt Greene to the position of technical sales representative. Greene will join the telemarketing department and will be responsible for nationwide sales of the Diamond Express product line.
KBA North America has named Carsten Ruebel to the position of new product manager. Ruebel will be headquartered at KBA’s Vermont offices.
Geoffrey Loftus has joined Presstek as general manager for the press business. He will be responsible for the business line management for presses, as well as finishing equipment.
Sam Finlay, former vice president of sales and marketing at Balemaster Inc., passed away in March. Mr. Finlay’s career at Balemaster stretched for 40 years before retiring in December 2000. He held a number of positions at Balemaster before being promoted to vice president in 1978.
Pitman Co. has entered into a five-year agreement with productivity management software provider DDM Technology. Pitman will sell and service DDM’s machine-monitoring systems throughout North America.
Luis Campos has been promoted to vice president of sales at Vijuk Equipment. He has more than 40 years of experience in the finishing segment of the graphic arts industry, including more than four years as sales coordinator for Vijuk.
Greg Lawson, an executive with more than 25 years of experience in the ink industry, was named president of US Ink, a division of Sun Chemical. Lawson succeeds Ron Baker, who died in February at the age of 70. Lawson joined Sun Chemical in 2002 as executive vice president of US Ink. Shortly thereafter, he was named president, Sun Chemical Latin America.
John M. Hamm & Associates, an Annapolis, MD-based marketing and business development consulting firm, has launched. John Hamm, president and CEO, serves as senior advisor for digital printing to PIA/GATF and its Digital Printing Council (DPC).
Sappi Fine Paper North America’s Somerset Mill, located in Skowhegan, ME, has received ISO14001:2004 certification for scope of manufacture of coated paper and pulp. This certification reflects Sappi’s commitment to environmental responsibility, discipline and self-awareness. Also, Sappi’s Allentown (PA) sheeting site has received four Global Safety Awards from the company’s global headquarters based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
MeadWestvaco Corp. has named the leadership team for the new Packaging Resources Group under its president, Robert Feeser. Sutton Baldwin will serve as vice president, human resources; Brian Chambon is the group’s vice president of business transformation; Jeff Jensen becomes vice president of operations; Charlie Johnson has been named vice president, global lines of business; Nick Kern takes over as vice president, product development and technical sales service; Frank Oliveri becomes vice president of marketing and business development; Dave Reinhart will serve as vice president, commercial operations; and Thomas Dalgleish joins the company as vice president, supply chain.
Mike Fox, formerly senior vice president of sales and services for Screen (USA), has been promoted to company president. Fox has managed the Screen (USA) sales team since 2000.
Printellect LLC has acquired the assets of EFI’s print spend management software business, which includes its Impresse product and Printellect product (formerly EnterpriseSite). The balance of EFI’s Pittsburgh, PA-based operations, which relate to commercial printing software packages, will remain in place. It is anticipated that all current employees that develop, support and implement these two software packages will transition to Printellect, which will remain headquartered in Pittsburgh. In other EFI news, Ghilad Dziesietnik, chief technology officer, general manager of EFI’s professional, printing applications and super-wide digital printing businesses, has been named the recipient of the 2005 Robert F. Reed Technology Medal.
The Spartanics Laser Cutting Contract Manufacturing Service is a newly offered service that is an alternative to purchasing laser cutting equipment. It is also designed to be an extended production trial of Spartanics Klemm digital diecutting systems for companies considering investments in laser cutting technology.
Debora Jeske has joined Wausau Paper’s Printing & Writing segment as product development manager.
The International Color Consortium (ICC) has elected William Li, color systems engineer of Kodak Graphic Communications Group, as chair and Jack Holm, principal color scientist in HP’s Office of Strategy & Technology, as vice-chair. Phil Green of the London College of Communication will continue to serve as technical secretary and Kip Smythe of NPES will continue as administrative secretary.
Jetrion LLC, the industrial ink-jet products and services subsidiary of Flint Ink, has moved its operations to a facility with more than three times the space of its current building. Located in Ypsilanti, MI, the new facility provides Jetrion with 35,000 square feet of floor area. Much of the new space will be used to accommodate a major expansion of Jetrion’s ink-jet ink manufacturing capacity.
Mohawk Fine Papers announced that National Envelope will now stock Mohawk Options 100 percent PCW (postconsumer waste) envelopes. Manufactured with windpower, Options envelopes were the first 100 percent postconsumer recycled paper to receive certification by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).
Kodak’s Graphic Communications Group (GCG) has named Michael Howard as vice president of marketing for its Digital Printing Solutions (DPS) business. A veteran of more than 20 years in the industry, Howard worked previously for Danka Business Systems and Xerox.
Baldwin Technology has secured $2 million in orders for its IMPACTflex automatic blanket cleaning systems. The Journal and Courier, Lafayette-West Lafayette, IN, has ordered IMPACTflex to be installed on its new Berliner-format MAN Roland Geoman 70, while the Denver News-paper Agency has ordered IMPACTflex for five new Geoman presses, which will be installed next year.
Heidelberg announced that it will continue providing full service on all of its DI (direct imaging) presses in the field, including prepress, workflow, RIP, consumables, press and parts-related support. The company also announced a new service program for Quickmaster QM DI press users, which includes a full-service program covering repair service, repair parts and travel. As part of this program, Heidelberg is offering special incentives for customers who renew QM DI service contracts or purchase new contracts.
Kim Kukla has been named to the newly created position of director of technical operations and product commercialization for Citiplate Inc., based at its manufacturing facility in Tennessee. She has held key positions at Imation, Spectratech and, most recently, Kodak-Creo.
PagePath Technologies reports its MyOrderDesk online orderflow system has delivered more than one million jobs to print shops. MyOrderDesk delivered its millionth job to CCS Printing in Tacoma, WA, in March.
The Gray Court, SC, manufacturing facility of BBA Fiberweb has earned ISO 9001:2000 certification. The facility manufactures spunbonded polyester used in a wide variety of end applications.
William B. Rudow Inc. is celebrating its 60th year in business. The company was started by current President David Wertheimer’s grandfather, Joseph, as Super Speed Inc., which then merged with William B. Rudow Inc. in 1968.
The annual Secap President’s Club for qualifying U.S. and Latin America dealers was held in February at the Wild Horse Pass and Resort in Phoenix. Secap hosted more than 70 individuals, including spouses and guests.
