The Top 20 Magazine Printers ranking has returned for the third year since its revival in 2014. The ranking, which lists leading printers in the U.S. and Canada based on revenue earned in the magazine sector, is intended to serve magazine publishers as they assess their printing needs and the landscape of potential printing partners.
Two new printers join this year’s ranking, including Solisco Printers (ranked 10th) and Bartash Printing (ranked 15th). Despite these newcomers, relatively few printers moved in the rankings, compared to last year. The top five printers have held onto their same rank from 2015, and the majority of printers moved one spot in the ranking or maintained the same rank as last year.
Accompany this year’s ranking is special feature package devised by Publishing Executive’s pseudonymous print magazine expert D. Eadward Tree. The feature offers a handy list of 10 tips for sizing up and selecting a printing partner. Dead Tree also explores lessons publishers should take from the digital advertising world and apply to their print magazines, and in a reversal, shares his take on how our collective wisdom about creating print magazines can guide our digital strategies.
