The Standard Group Makes Multimillion-Dollar Investment With 8-Color LED-UV Perfector
LANCASTER and READING, Pa. - September 25, 2018 - The Standard Group, an enterprise print management and marketing logistics company which recently made a strategic shift to LED-UV printing, finalized a major capital investment in a state-of-the-art Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 106 LED-UV 8-Color Perfector Press.
At a time when the print industry is consolidating and print companies are diversifying their portfolios, The Standard Group is making a bold and significant move to embrace LED-UV printing, doubling down on print media with a monster 8-Color Perfector Press.
The Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 106 is considered the ultimate in automation and efficiency printing technology. Designed for firms with a wide range of substrates, large print volumes or periodic job changes, the XL 106’s straightforward operation makes this press 20% to 30% more productive than previous models. A Smithers Pira’s report reveals that the Heidelberg presses are on average 36% more productive than competitive machines when comparing average production costs.
“The need for print media to drive marketing and sales is incredibly strong,” states Jim Rowland, COO for The Standard Group. Rowland clarifies, “But what customers want is higher quality print collateral at a lower cost. And our new Speedmaster XL 106 8-Color LED-UV Perfector Press is ideal to fulfill that need.”
Rowland continues, “Because the new perfecting press can print on both sides of a sheet of paper in a single pass, we’ll be able to gain greater efficiency and additional cost savings to pass onto our customers.”
“I’m loving this machine,” comments Mike Gaidos, Pressroom Manager for The Standard Group. “The perfecting and LED-UV capabilities mean our press operators can print faster, and customers can have shorter press checks. At full speed, we’ll be able to print sixteen 8.5x11 pages at 18,000 sheets per hour on both sides simultaneously, or 288,000 pages per hour.” Gaidos laughs, “With sheets coming off this press instantly dry, I hope our Bindery and Finishing Team can keep up with our increased output.”
Heidelberg, as a manufacturer, is regarded as a pioneer in ecological printing and has developed solutions to eliminate or reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) and process emissions as well as cut waste. “The Speedmaster XL 106 is recognized as one of the most environmentally-friendly presses in its class,” adds Rowland. “And with LED-UV delivering the smallest carbon footprint in the print industry, this press is further advancing our sustainability and environmental efforts.”
Scott Vaughn, CEO of The Standard Group, shares his enthusiasm for the new Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 106 8-Color Perfector Press. “We made this multimillion-dollar investment because LED-UV and perfecting capabilities are the future of offset print technology, and it’s the right move for our customers,” he reflects. “Our marketers, designers and print buyers will love the impeccable print results, quick turnaround time and minimal impact to our environment. This press makes me proud to be a print manufacturer in the USA.”
