Top 50 U. S. Government Printing Office (GPO) Suppliers for 2009 Announced
CHAMBERSBURG, PA—December 1, 2009—Print suppliers that have been most successful in obtaining U. S. Government Printing Office (GPO) work during the Federal Fiscal Year 2009 have been announced by Government Print Management, the leading representative of print suppliers to government in the United States. Government Print Management is a division of e-LYNXX Corporation.
"Competition among printers for GPO work during 2009 has been greater than ever as they look at the government as a secondary market for filling production gabs that occur when there is no commercial work," said Deborah Snider, senior vice president of e-LYNXX Corporation and head of the Government Print Management division. "This is a much anticipated listing not only because it tells the industry who has won the most GPO work over the past year but also because it provides the volume of work awarded by GPO to private sector printers."
Of the more than 1,800 print suppliers that obtained GPO work during Fiscal Year 2009 (October 2008 through September 2009), NPC (News Printing Co.) of Claysburg, PA, received the most work with $29 million awarded to it. The value of all GPO work awarded during this period was $425 million compared to $421 million awarded in 2008. Work done by the top 50 suppliers was valued at $270 million during 2009 compared to $287 million awarded in 2008.
"Since 85 percent of the jobs that the GPO procures are for less than $3500, many suppliers find them to be ideal for filling what would otherwise be idle production time," Snider said. "By filling downtime, active GPO print suppliers increase their bottom line annual profitability from a national average of less than 3% to more than 14%. Securing GPO work has become essential as printers find income opportunities in government markets when commercial work is being reduced significantly due to the economy."
Print suppliers that rounded out the top 10 for 2009 were (2) RR Donnelley of Chicago, IL; (3) Monarch Litho of Montebello, CA; (4) Gateway Press of Louisville, KY; (5) Sourcelink of Miamisburg, OH; (6) Cenveo of Stamford, CT; (7) Freedom Graphic Systems of Milton, WI; (8) PA Hutchison of Mayfield, PA; (9) Enterprise Group of Discovery Bay, CA; and (10) McDonald & Eudy Printers of Temple Hill, MD.
Snider said many of the top 50 GPO suppliers are clients of Government Print Management and benefit from the company's government print management expertise and exclusive services.
