Transcontinental Consolidates Three PA-based Operations
MONTREAL—Direct marketing specialist Transcontinental is consolidating its three Philadelphia-area operations under one roof in Warminster, PA, and is adding new equipment.
The 220,000-square-foot facility, which at one time was the training ground for the Apollo astronauts, will now encompass Spectra Graphics of Willow Grove, PA; Solutions of Newtown, PA; and Spectra Mail of Levittown, PA. The plant is expected to be operational by the end of August and full relocation is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2002. It is also expected to generate new jobs in the Philadelphia market.
"Combining our capabilities under one roof improves communication and workflow, and reduces cycle time for our customers, many of whom are Fortune 500 companies in the financial services, advertising, insurance, publishing and retail sectors," notes Kevin Howley, vice president and general manager of Transcontinental's U.S. interactive marketing operations.
A pair of eight-color, 27˝ Sanden Quantum 1500XP web offset presses were slated for installation by summer's end. They will be equipped with UV dryers and remote ink and register control.
Two laser printers, as well as insertion equipment, are also scheduled to be installed by year's end.
