Raymond Royer, president and CEO of Domtar, notes that the move increases Domtar's access to U.S. markets. "By strengthening our access, it highlights our commitment to the U.S. market. In addition, it will contribute to increasing our sales to more than C$4 billion," he notes.
The total value of the transaction is US$90 million, which includes assumption of debt, issuance of Domtar common shares and payment in cash. Ris management will continue to lead the company. Domtar Inc. is Canada's largest producer of specialty and fine papers and is ranked seventh in North America, with 8,000 employees across North America and annual sales of more than $3 billion.
