MONTREAL—September 3, 2013—Ultimate Technographics, a leading provider of automated imposition and finishing solutions will be showcasing its award winning automated finishing software, Ultimate Bindery v.3, at Booth 4844 during PRINT 13. Ultimate Bindery wins the 2013 Must See 'Em Award in the Management Systems Category for being a unique open solution that automates postpress and solves the growing bottleneck in finishing caused by the increasing trend towards short-runs and personalized printing.
“We are excited to receive this Must See 'Ems award recognition,” said Joanne David, president and CEO of Ultimate. “Ultimate Bindery is changing the way the industry looks at workflows: from Web-to-print, we are moving to Web-to-finish with several installations in the United States and in Europe. It all started in 2008 with a couple of devices and now Ultimate Bindery offers JDF interfaces for 17 different devices from seven manufacturers with capabilities to set a finishing plan upstream.”
Ultimate Bindery operates as a JDF agent between the jobs in prepress and the postpress finishing equipment designated to produce the final product (books, brochures, cards, calendars, etc.). Ultimate Bindery produces the JDF finishing job ticket automatically with accuracy leaving no room for errors. Ultimate Bindery is a hub of knowledge of different finishing devices from several manufacturers operating as a central location to validate that each job is built respecting the capabilities and constraints of the finishing equipment.
New at PRINT 13, Ultimate Bindery will be shown as a fully integrated solution within the HP Smart Stream Production Pro Print Server v.5 enabling the definition of a finishing plan at the DFE. This means that customers can select which device will produce the job whether it is a single device or a combination of multiple devices. This integration features connectivity with all existing JDF enabled equipment. The Ultimate Bindery/HP integration introduces the concept of direct connectivity integrating the Horizon JDF controller to automate makeready on all off-line Standard Horizon equipment.
Ultimate Bindery is a vital part of Xerox IntegratedPLUS Finishing solution. In an in-line configuration with Xerox FreeFlow Print Server or EFI Fiery, Ultimate Bindery synchronizes jobs, coordinating device status communication. Ultimate Bindery works in concert to leverage the full capabilities of the C.P. Bourg Sheet Feeder—from utilizing the internal barcode readers to enable sheet level integrity or to enable variable length booklet production to collating job components from multiple presses.
