KANSAS CITY, KS—A union representing 50-plus employees of Greystone Graphics and the company have reached terms on a four-year contract, ending an 18-day strike, the Kansas City Star reported.
Under terms of the agreement, hammered out by Greystone and the Graphic Communications Conference, employees will take a 5.75 percent cut, the paper said. Earlier in the year, Greystone instituted permanent wage and benefits cuts, and those reductions would have cost employees between 10 and 25 percent of their pay.
Workers will actually receive a slight wage increase in the third and fourth years of the agreement.
Greystone officials said the cuts were necessary to remain competitive and purchase new equipment, according to the Star.
