DUNMORE, Pa. — March 8, 2017 — Universal Printing Company LLC, a leading provider of document processing, printing, fulfillment and direct mail for the healthcare industry, has announced that the company’s access control, data transmission and job tracking systems have earned Certified status for information security by the Health Information Trust (HITRUST) Alliance. Universal is one of the few printing and fulfillment companies, as well as one of the first U.S. woman‐owned printing businesses to receive the certification. With the HITRUST CSF Certified Status, these systems meet key healthcare regulations and requirements for protecting and securing sensitive private healthcare information.
HITRUST CSF Certified status indicates that the organization’s access control, data transmission and job tracking systems have met industry-defined requirements and are appropriately managing risk, and places Universal in an elite group of organizations worldwide that have earned this certification. By including federal and state regulations, standards and frameworks, and incorporating a risk-based approach, the HITRUST CSF helps organizations address these challenges through a comprehensive and flexible framework of prescriptive and scalable security controls.
"Healthcare providers are under great pressure to meet complex requirements such as HIPAA, NIST, and ISO," said Jeffrey Hahn, Information Security Officer at Universal. "The HITRUST CSF is the highest standard that needs to be met, and Universal is pleased to demonstrate its commitment to compliance and security for the healthcare industry by achieving HITRUST CSF Certification."
Ken Vander Wal, Chief Compliance Officer, HITRUST, also adds, "HITRUST has been working with the industry to ensure the appropriate information protection requirements are met when sensitive health information is accessed or stored. By taking the steps necessary to obtain HITRUST CSF Certified status, Universal is distinguished as an organization that people can count on to keep their information safe."
