Employee Killed at Lunchtime
PHILADELPHIA—An employee with Running Press died almost instantly during an encounter with an armed robber during his lunch break on May 24. Darrell Jones, 39, who worked in the shipping and handling department at the book publishing company, had been eating lunch with a pair of friends at a West Philadelphia street corner when they were approached by two men, who tried to rob them. Jones was attempting to flee from the holdup when the assailant struck him with a semi-automatic pistol, which discharged a bullet, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. Jones died at the scene.
