Line & Tone, Target Merge
NEW YORK—A little more than a year since it acquired Finley Digital Photographics, Line & Tone, based here, announced that it is merging with Target Graphics, of Boonton, NJ. Target Graphics and its art creation subsidiary, MediaLogix, are now wholly owned subsidiaries of Line & Tone. The transaction will see Line & Tone move its Parsippany and Mahwah, NJ, operations into Target's Boonton facility.
Quad/Graphics Expanding Plants
PEWAUKEE, WI—Gammerler, a manufacturer of in-line finishing systems, announced it has been chosen by Quad/Graphics, headquartered here, to supply overhead conveying systems for Quad plant expansions in Martinsburg, WV, Saratoga Springs, NY, as well as Hartford and West Allis, WI. The complete order calls for the manufacture and installation of 21 conveying lines among Quad/Graphics' plants.
Xerox Names Wilde to Post
ROCHESTER, NY—Xerox announced it has named Elaine Wilde senior vice president and general manager of Worldwide Graphic Arts Industry Business, the company's $3 billion supplier to the graphic arts industry. Wilde, who joined the company in 1976, was most recently vice president, marketing and strategy, public sector operations.
Employee Killed at Lunchtime
PHILADELPHIA—An employee with Running Press died almost instantly during an encounter with an armed robber during his lunch break on May 24. Darrell Jones, 39, who worked in the shipping and handling department at the book publishing company, had been eating lunch with a pair of friends at a West Philadelphia street corner when they were approached by two men, who tried to rob them. Jones was attempting to flee from the holdup when the assailant struck him with a semi-automatic pistol, which discharged a bullet, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. Jones died at the scene.
Heidelberg Web Tabs Albrecht
DOVER, NH—Werner Albrecht has been named president and CEO at Heidelberg Web Systems. Albrecht succeeds Robert A. Brown, who joined Harris Graphics (later acquired by Heidelberg) in 1978.
Expanding Creps Adds Press
INDIANA, PA—To coincide with its facility expansion this summer, Creps United Publications is adding a Goss C700i web press. The unit has a 21˝ cutoff and is 66˝ wide. According to owner Jack Creps, the press will enable his company to remain competitive in the insert printing market and allow it to explore new heatset commercial markets.

CHICAGO—Que-Net Media, a member of the Quebecor World Group, opened Technology Solutions Centers in Chicago, New York, Los Angeles and Toronto this summer. The Technology Solutions Centers provide on-site training and education in the latest content management and automated publishing tools.
Houk Endorsed for Public Printer
ALEXANDRIA, VA—Robert Houk received the Printing Industries of America's (PIA) endorsement to return to the Public Printer post he held from 1990 to 1993. Houk, a past inductee into the Printing Impressions/RIT Printing Industry Hall of Fame, also served as PIA board chairman from 1987 to 1988. The Public Printer is in charge of the U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO) and is nominated by the president and confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
Premier Print Holdings Relocates
MEMPHIS, TN—Premier Print Holdings, formerly known as Master Graphics, has moved its base of operations from Memphis, TN, to Charlotte, NC. Calvin W. Aurand Jr., company chairman and CEO, notes that Charlotte is more centrally located to its various operating divisions.

Barbee Takes Helm at K/P Corp.
SAN RAMON, CA—Rich Barbee has been named president and CEO of K/P Corp., replacing Jim Knapp, who will maintain a seat on the company's board of directors. Barbee most recently served as president of operations for Hart Graphics, of Austin, TX, which went out of business in April. Barbee previously spent 18 years with R.R. Donnelley & Sons.
PIA Seeks New Energy Policy
ALEXANDRIA, VA—The Printing Industries of America (PIA) is urging industry and government leaders to hammer out an effective and encompassing national energy policy in response to the current crisis. PIA and its members joined the Alliance for Energy and Economic Growth, which is urging national lawmakers to reform U.S. domestic energy policy.
Managers Acquire Continental
MONTEREY PARK, CA—Digital imaging specialist Continental Colorcraft has been acquired by longtime employees Linda Kristensen-Clarke and Andy Scheidegger. Kristensen-Clarke, who was vice president of sales and marketing, will serve as vice president. Scheidegger, formerly vice president of operations, is now president.

Kile Part Owner at Petersen
SOUTH BEND, IN—Michael Kile, president and CEO of Petersen Graphics Group, has acquired partial ownership of the firm that is co-owned by Marc and Eric Petersen. Kile has been with Petersen for nearly 14 years and has 24 years of industry experience.
