Vertis Announces Changes in Top Management
BALTIMORE—Dec. 1, 2008—Vertis Communications (“Vertis”), a premier provider of targeted advertising and direct marketing solutions, announced today that chief executive officer Mike DuBose is resigning from his position with the company effective Jan.1, 2009. The board of directors has named Stephen M. Dyott vice chairman and Alex Sorokin interim president of the company. Both appointments are effective immediately.
The naming of Dyott as vice chairman represents his return to the company; he previously served as chairman and chief executive officer of American Color Graphics, which recently merged with Vertis.
Among other duties, Dyott will serve as a senior advisor to both the board and Sorokin, who is a managing director of the management firm Zolfo Cooper and a seasoned executive with more than 25 years of business experience. The board has retained Heidrick & Struggles to assist in a search for a permanent Vertis CEO. “On behalf of the board, I would like to thank Mike DuBose for his contributions to the company.
Since his recruitment into Vertis by the previous board in December of 2006, Mike led the successful turnaround of Vertis and most recently, helped to lead the successful financial restructuring and merger of Vertis Communications and American Color Graphics,” said Mike Elkins, a member of the Vertis board of directors. “With that phase now effectively completed, we understand that Mike is looking forward to new challenges.”
Elkins added, “Vertis will benefit from the able leadership of our new vice chairman Steve Dyott and interim president Alex Sorokin, both of whom will work closely with the senior management team to ensure that Vertis continues to leverage its strengths and reinforce its leadership position within the industry.”
