Vertis Closes FSI Printing Facility
BALTIMORE—Vertis Communications closed its Manchester Township, PA, facility on Jan. 15, catching many of the 180 people who lost their jobs completely off guard. The work will be shifted to other locations within the Vertis chain, according to the York Daily Record.
Company officials met with plant workers at a local hotel that morning to inform them of the closure and discuss severance packages, the paper reported. Grace Platon, vice president of communications for Vertis, told the Record that the company would assist workers in their quest to find employment. She said Vertis is encouraging them to seek employment at its other 100 nationwide locations.
The facility produced advertising inserts and other products for retailers, newspapers and consumer services companies, the paper said. A sister branch in the township provides direct mail products. PI
