VistaPrint Files Patent Suit Against Taylor Subsidiaries

HAMILTON, BERMUDA—Claiming that three of its patents related to browser-based tools have been infringed, VistaPrint Technologies—a subsidiary of VistaPrint—has filed a lawsuit against 123Print and Drawing Board, subsidiaries of North Mankato, MN-based Taylor Corp.

In papers filed with the U.S. District Court in Minnesota, VistaPrint alleges that 123Print and Drawing Board have infringed and continue to infringe three patents related to browser-based tools for online product design. The patents are titled “computerized prepress authoring for document creation,” “browser-based computerized prepress” and “computerized prepress.”

VistaPrint is seeking an injunction to stop 123Print and Drawing Board from offering the allegedly infringing services, along with payment for damages.

“We must take action against companies that attempt to profit from our investment in intellectual property, including our 13 issued U.S. patents and the dozens of additional patents pending,” VistaPrint President and CEO Robert Keane said in a release. “By filing this suit, we are demonstrating our willingness to take legal action against companies that improperly use our technologies.”

Taylor Corp. Chairman Bradley J. Schreier did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
