First W+D 410 Easy Enveloper Sold in Northeast to DS Graphics
LENEXA, Kan. — June 19, 2047 — W+D North America announces the sale of the first W+D 410 Easy Enveloper in the Northeast to DS Graphics of Lowell, Mass. The W+D 410 Easy Enveloper offers complete size change overs in under 30 minutes for popular envelope sizes on uncoated or coated stocks at speeds of 500 envelopes per minute as well as the ability to convert envelopes with trailing edge shapes at USPS automation rates per the USPS Pilot Program (six currently approved shapes). The 410 Easy Enveloper also embraces new “drier chain run out” and “complete cut” technology that makes conversion of digital printed sheets a reality without unacceptable waste factors or traditional high diecutting.
According to Jeff Pallis, president of DS Graphics, “the 410 Easy Enveloper promises to accelerate our time to mail box from week(s) to just days without the costs and headaches of additional freight and, of course, now any trim waste remains with us so we can also be more cost effective for our customers.” Furthermore, states Joel White, Executive Vice President of Operations, “we can now control all the inputs for downstream inserter efficiency – seal flap shape, throat depth, side seam width – the W+D 410 Easy Enveloper will work great in combination with our W+D BB700 inserter which we know can process shape cut envelopes at 16,000 cycles per hour.”
As a servo driven machine, the 410 Easy Enveloper also is equipped with two HMI (human machine interface) monitors with access to Expert Online help. Andrew Schipke, VP Sales and Marketing for W+D North America, observes that “with the Expert Online help and the simplicity of our newly engineered W+D 410 change-over process we can run virtually all the popular direct mail and transaction envelope sizes from a #6-3/4 (3-5/8 x 6-1/2) reply envelope to a full view 6 x 9-1/2 booklet at 500 envelopes per minute by operators without prior envelope adjuster experience – a benefit to traditional envelope manufacturers and commercial printers alike.”
DS Graphics has opted to configure the 410 Easy Enveloper with two patchers and will be the first to receive W+D’s new fast change, tight color register all servo 2 over 1 flexo printing units. Brook Spaulding, Market Development Manager and Senior Account Manager for W+D North America, notes that “the two patchers mean DS Graphics can offer the look of hot foil stamping at a fraction of the cost or they can do a full view window on the face of the envelope while separately patching an address window on the flap side of the envelope which has become a very popular direct mail format.”
With the W+D 410’s novel shuttle feeder and complete cut magnetic flex die system, DS Graphics will also get the benefits of scuff-free envelopes on even light weight 70#C2S coated stock and enjoy tight folding color registration within .040” to the score line, all of which means according to Jack McGrath, Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing for DS Graphics, “we will be able to deliver higher quality, value and service to our growing direct mail customer base who are demanding faster turn times and better and new envelope features.”
