W+D North America Inc., the worldwide leader in envelope converting and direct mail inserting technology, announces that it will introduce to the worldwide markets its new W+D 820+ 20K direct mail inserter running live at Hunkeler Innovationdays Feb 27th to March 2nd in Lucerne Switzerland. The new W+D BB820 + becomes the new flagship inserter for W+D which now allows for processing of the widest range of direct mail sizes, plus now including larger flats and a 25% faster speed than the former industry-leading W+D BB700 S2 inserter.
The new W+D BB820+ model merges the performance, faster changeover speed and product control and intelligence of the successful W+D BB820 model with the size range not only matching but even exceeding that of the W+D BB700 S2. The W+D BB820+ will handle all direct mail envelopes sizes from a #7 (3¾ x 6¾“) envelope now up to a 10 x 13” flat with a package thickness of up to 6/₁₀”. The high-performance W+D BB820+ insertion system reliably inserts at a speed up to 20,000 pcs/h. The W+D BB820+ comes with the new RF4 rotary feeder for consistent feeding at increased speeds with enhanced size range and a new insertion module with an additional servo axis for flexible, size-dependent individual motion control of collating track, envelope gripper transport and insert pusher assembly.
The vacuum-supported dedicated cam-controlled envelope opening bar and insert finger provides optimized motion profiles for each of the different envelope sizes. A new envelope stopper and exit belt assembly support the enhanced size range with Autoset functionality. The W+D BB820 boasts full modularity to ensure quick and easy interchangeability of different feeder types within the W+D inserter platforms and to easily adapt to future requirements.
Andrew Schipke Vice President of Marketing and Strategic Sales for W+D, notes, “No other direct mail inserter handles flats at the net speeds that W+D inserters have demonstrated over the years. The new W+D BB820+ model now raises the overall performance level for the widest industry range of envelope sizes that require more complex high-integrity direct mail inserting as well as the capability of inserting to the tightest mail package side tolerances of less than ¼” which helps reduces paper usage.”
