Worker Dies in Accident at Quad/Graphics PA Plant
WEST SADSBURY, PA—March 23, 2015—A Quad/Graphics employee died Friday after getting crushed by a load of circulars inside a clogged baler at the Atglen facility here, the Daily Local News reported today.
The victim, whom police did not identify, was attempting to clear the clogged baler around 6 p.m. When the obstruction was removed, it caused a mound of incoming paper to fall on top of the 44-year-old man.
According to the newspaper, firefighters worked to remove the pile of books from atop the victim and were able to free him via an access door in the baler. The man was taken to Brandywine Hospital while in cardiac arrest, and was later pronounced dead.
Police are still investigating the accident. The probable cause of death is either suffocation or internal injuries resulting from being crushed by the paper.
