World Color Buys Infiniti Graphics

ENFIELD, CT—Greenwich, CT-based World Color Press has entered into a purchase agreement to acquire Infiniti Graphics, a leading Connecticut-based commercial printer. Infiniti had revenues of more than $20 million in 1998.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The acquisition is World Color's 22nd since 1993 and its second in as many months.

Operating from a 72,000-square-foot facility here, Infiniti competes in the commercial, direct response and publication markets. The 115-person company currently produces more than 1 billion pieces of printed material per year, including brochures, booklets, inserts, reply cards and magazine reprints, according to Infiniti officials. Clients include Advo, American Express Publishing, Conde Nast, Grolier, Westvaco and Ziff-Davis.

Robert G. Burton, chairman and CEO of World Color, notes that the acquisition strengthens his company's position as the leader in the Northeast commercial print market. "Infiniti's short-run printing capabilities will serve as an excellent supplement to World Color's existing Northeast commercial operations—Northeast Graphics in North Haven, CT, and Acme Printing, in Boston.

"Expanding our capabilities in this market sector will further enhance World Color's 'one-stop shopping' platform, which allows us to fulfill more of our customers' overall print production requirements."

Clint Humphrey, president of Infiniti Graphics, notes that Infiniti elected to align itself "with an industry leader that has a track record of customer focus, capital investment, and delivering on commitments and results. The World Color organization gives us access to additional resources for our customers and our operations."

Burton adds: "Our pipeline of other potential acquisitions remains full, and we look forward to reporting other deals in the near future."
