CINCINNATI—March 4, 2014—xpedx has broadened its digital papers portfolio with the addition of two new synthetic papers, PoliPrint Xerographic Polyester Paper and YUPOBlue for HP Indigo. Both are now available nationwide from the xpedx network of distribution centers.
“xpedx has offered durable synthetic papers to our customers for many years, and we are further expanding our commitment with digital synthetics to meet the evolving needs of our customers,” said Rick Burdick, vice president of sales at xpedx. “The demand for digital synthetic paper is increasing rapidly because of its performance, durability and versatility. Printers are seeing that the possible applications for synthetic substrates are endless.”
PoliPrint, which is designed for high-heat, dry toner production equipment such as Xerox iGen and Kodak Nexpress, is available in 5, 8, 10, and 14 mil thicknesses, and is distributed exclusively by xpedx. Printers will appreciate PoliPrint’s performance, as well as its price, in comparison to other high heat, dry toner synthetic substrates. This bright white, ultra smooth synthetic paper features a specialized coating for excellent toner adhesion, making it well suited for most environmental conditions with resistance to water, grease and other contaminants. Because of the durable nature of PoliPrint there is no need for secondary post-print laminating, which saves additional expense and time. In addition, PoliPrint does not experience the swelling or sheet distortion which is commonly associated with other synthetic materials.
YUPOBlue, a premier synthetic paper optimized specifically for HP Indigo presses, carries a three-star certification rating from the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). It is produced in 5.9, 8, 9.9, 11.6 and 13.8 mil thicknesses, all of which are available from xpedx. Unlike other synthetic substrates for HP Indigo presses, YUPOBlue does not require surface treatment prior to printing, saving both time and money. Its soft, tactile quality has the look and feel of a luxurious silk paper. Among synthetics, YUPOBlue offers superior dimensional stability and is 100 percent recyclable, waterproof, and tear and stain resistant.
PoliPrint and YUPOBlue are both ideal for a variety of uses including menus, maps, luggage tags, book covers, recipe cards, ID cards, and indoor and outdoor signage. Applications are only limited by the imagination.
“xpedx has more digital substrates available from more suppliers than anyone else in the industry,” Burdick said. “From synthetic to paper, coated to uncoated, wide-format to grand format, when it comes to digital printing, no one delivers like xpedx.”
