Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) is expanding the range of printing plates, inks, coatings and print additives it offers customers in Germany by acquiring the ink specialist Ulrich Schweizer GmbH/IPS GmbH (Schweizer), based in Waiblingen. Schweizer has been supplying the industry with sheetfed offset consumables for over 35 years and is one of Germany’s biggest service providers for Pantone and spot colors. The company boasts a state-of-the-art ink-mixing plant and also offers a 24-hour delivery service.
A year after officially announcing the intention to consolidate production of water-based inks, INX International Ink Co. recently opened a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Homewood, a southern suburb of Chicago. A larger facility than the ones INX closed in Kalamazoo, MI, and in nearby Elk Grove earlier this year, Homewood offers 80,000 square-feet of space and an interesting slice of history to go with its address at 1000 Maple Drive in the Prairie Landing Business Park.
