Canon Solutions America hosted about 40 existing customers and prospects from around the country during its East Coast Inkjet Insider Summit held in Hartford, CT, last week. The highlight of the event was a tour of Data-Mail’s full-service direct mail printing and lettershop facility in nearby Newington, CT, and an optional visit to Data-Mail’s sister lettershop location in Windsor, CT.
It has been an interesting 16 months for Access Direct Systems, a company that has traditionally made conservative, measured decisions in mapping out its game plan. But its desire to remain a flexible, focused partner for its mailing clients is what led it to make an unprecedented, production inkjet-related initiative.
Inkjet adoption has primarily centered around continuous-feed inkjet press installations for high-speed, high-volume applications—but the long-announced wave of cut-sheet inkjet printers starting to enter the marketplace will also become game-changers for more mainstream sheetfed offset and cut-sheet toner digital shops.
These are good days for the production inkjet printing business, for both users of the technology, as well as its related equipment and supplies manufacturers. Everyone is growing, everyone seems to be making money and promises of technology advancement are being delivered upon.
