Trust Franklin Press, a 106-year-old commercial printer based in Pittsburgh, has expanded its print production facility with the sale and installation of the first MGI Meteor digital press—a DP8700XL—in the tri-state area.
Canon launched several color and monochrome printers this week in conjunction with its Canon for Business 2014 event, which took place at the Canon Customer Experience Center in Poing, Germany. Hundreds of customers, analysts and journalists attended the event, about a half hour from Munich.
Xerox's new Versant 2100 digital press is designed for commercial printers, quick printers and in-plant operations. The 100 page-per-minute device—versatile for any production environment—combines speed, exclusive image quality and automation features to create colorful personalized communications, collateral, brochures, photo publishing and specialty products.
Since adding a new MGI Meteor DP8700XL digital press and JETvarnish 3D digital spot UV coater, Prestone Printing in Long Island City, NY, is now able to win new projects and offer a faster turnaround for its clients. "Our clients are now able to produce more innovative marketing collateral with an appealing schedule and price, due to the cost savings of using a digital press over an offset," said Ira Wechsler, Prestone Printing’s partner and vice president of operations.
Kodak's NexPress SX digital production color platform has become the first manufacturer-initiated pre-approved platform by Rochester Institute of Technology, who developed the industry certification.
JP Graphics of Santa Clara, CA, has added a MGI Meteor DP8700XL digital press. "The MGI print output is so crisp and clear, that you cannot tell the difference many times between it and offset," noted JP Graphics President, Joan Escover.
In an effort to expand its printing capabilities, Moeller Printing, located in Indianapolis, has invested in a MGI Meteor DP8700XL digital press. "At first we were struggling with what digital press would best serve our customers, Graphco stepped in and helped make the process easy," said Dave Moeller.
By adding a new five-color Kodak NexPress SX3900 digital production color press to its current lineup of Kodak and Canon Océ digital printers, eDOC Communications, in Mt. Prospect, IL, expects to realize an increase in productivity of up to 50 percent. In addition, eDOC has added a Baum sheet feeder, enabling the NexPress to deliver a 14x36" sheet.
World Media Group, a media solutions company based in Indianapolis, has invested in a MGI Meteor DP8700XL digital press to expand its capabilities, and open up new product lines.
CGS Publishing Technologies International and Canon Solutions America (CSA) have partnered to provide Canon imagePRESS users with a new solution employing CGS’ ORIS color calibration and certification software, enabling imagePRESS operators to create accurate calibration profiles for their digital presses.
