Gilded edges have been a staple of wedding invitations for years. More recently, I’ve noticed the occasional business card with color on the edge. But now...the trend is unmistakable.

At PRINT 13, Scodix will be introducing the Scodix Ultra digital press that is capable of producing 1,250 B2+ (21.5x31.0˝) size sheets per hour and is based upon the company’s Scodix SENSE technology.

At PRINT 13, Scodix will be exhibiting five modular digital production tools for quickly and easily enhancing digitally printed images with production effects for making projects stand out. Headlining these offerings will be Scodix Metallic, which recently received a 2013 Printing Industries of America InterTech Technology Award.

The JETvarnish 3D with the new “Twin” option, from MGI Digital Graphic Technology, will be debuted at the Graphitec show, held this week in Paris (Porte de Versailles) June 11-14. The new machine is reported to be one of the fastest digital inkjet spot UV coaters on the market.

AccuLink, a leading print service provider based in Greenville, NC, is now able to offer the Scodix SENSE process, which applies a clear polymer with pinpoint accuracy and in variable levels of thickness and texture to images using a patented optical guidance system.

Many designers are still challenged to find more creative ways to maximize their resources...When it comes to paper, unusual finishes and surfaces, as well as the use of metallics and translucents are adding flair to one-color print jobs.
