The compact Bourg BB3202 PUR-C binder will be unveiled at GRAPH EXPO 14 in Chicago Sept. 28-Oct. 1, 2014, by C.P. Bourg. Xerox will demonstrate an in-line version of the new binder operating with the Xerox iGen 150 digital press in booth #1213.
As the world of print tilts more and more towards digital, MBO and MBO America have had to seriously rethink their game plan. Issues such as the trend towards very short runs, the lack of experienced bindery operators and the need to enter the digital finishing and packaging markets have all weighed heavily on them.
The second generation of Highcon Euclid II series of digital cutting and creasing machines incorporates several new features. The GRAPH EXPO 14 show will be the first public exhibit of the Highcon Euclid digital technology in the North American market, and the company will conduct live demos on the Highcon Euclid II+ machine.
At GRAPH EXPO 14, coming Sept. 28-Oct. 1, in Chicago, Rollem International will exhibit its full array of smart finishing solutions, including the new Delta Diecutter, the Jetstream high-volume finishing system, and the Mailstream all-in-one machine for high-value direct mail finishing.
Visitors to Duplo USA's booth at GRAPH EXPO 14 will see live workflow demonstrations of its complete range of digital print finishing solutions. The DC-616 PRO slitter/cutter/creaser will be on exhibit at the show for the first time, along with iSaddle System, the UD-300 On Demand diecutter and more.
The old-line bindery vendors have been working hard to get their new digital finishing offerings into newer markets, and to establish themselves as preferred partners with the digital press manufacturers. But this is a space that has been adequately filled for may years. These "traditional" vendors will have to prove that they've got some new finishing technology tricks to offer that are superior (and cost-effective) in order to claim their share of digital print finishing.
The ColorWorks Pro Plus from Standard Finishing Systems, performs bookletmaking, creasing, bleed trimming, folding, stitching and stacking, making it a nearly full-service "bindery in a box." The ColorWorks Pro Plus is the product of a close engineering alliance between Horizon International and Xerox.
On the occasion of MBO America's 30th anniversary and 10,000th installation, 150 existing and new customers joined the company in an open house. Attendees saw live demonstrations of 10 different finishing solutions for direct mail, miniature folding, packaging, web finishing (inkjet finishing) and commercial finishing.
The inkjet printing revolution is in full swing, with one exception. Newspapers. While many pundits have been predicting the death of the printed paper, I think they're going to be around for some time.
