Winston Packaging in Winston-Salem, NC, has broken a world record in job production. On August 11, 2014, the company reached average speeds of 18,964 iph on 127,625 sheets in less than seven hours on its 41", six-color KBA Rapida 106.
Tempt In-Store Productions, a Quad/Graphics co., has completed the installation of a new KBA Rapida 205 large-format press at its Milwaukee-area facility. The new press will allow Tempt to produce POP signage, posters, displays and graphics of all kinds up to 81" by 59".
The 6-up RYOBI MHI 750 Packaging Edition series press will be highlighted at GRAPH EXPO 14. This fully automated press delivers what many commercial and packaging printers need—high-margin, special-effects printing for thick packaging board and light weight sheets.
With plate changing times some 50 percent shorter than with AutoPlate, the AutoPlate Pro is easy to operate and enables staff to carry on working during plate changes. It will be available for the Speedmaster XL 75 this fall and Speedmaster XL 106 in spring 2015, but initial installations have proven a big success.

Folding carton, corrugated box and merchandising display manufacturer RockTenn has purchased the 100th Heidelberg VLF press, which will be installed at its Clinton, IA, facility. Steve Voorhees, RockTenn CEO, and Craig Gunckel, executive vice president of merchandising display and folding carton, were on hand at Heidelberg’s Hall 11 assembly center, part of the Heidelberg Wiesloch-Walldorf Factory complex, to inspect the press and participate in a special event with Heidelberg executives and employees to salute the 100th press accomplishment.
Norcross, GA-based Media Graphix has installed its fourth Komori press, a new five-color Lithrone G40 with coater (GL540C). The company chose the Komori GL540C for its ability to efficiently print on a variety of substrates and its sharp print quality.
This year, GRAPH EXPO 14 and CPP EXPO will feature the North American premier of RYOBI MHI 925 LED-UV press with INSTA.COLOR and CRON UVP 36 CTP—both running live at Booth 4404. The RYOBI MHI 925 LED-UV is a winner of a Must See ‘Em 2014 award.
