Goss International has introduced a solution that overcomes barriers deterring many newspapers from converting to a more attractive and cost-effective compact format. The new Goss Triliner technology converts two-pages-around newspaper presses to print three pages around, allowing publishers to save paper and increase productivity and color capacity while still maintaining broadsheet sectioning and the ability to accommodate standard-size advertising inserts.
Quebecor World Inc. purchases three new state-of-the-art short cut-off, wide web high speed offset presses to further enhance its industry leading retail insert platform. The presses will be strategically positioned in the U.S. and Canada.

MONTREAL—November 14, 2008—Transcontinental Inc. today announced the appointment of Brian Reid as President of its Printing Sector, effective immediately. The sector brings together services to retailers and publishers of newspapers, magazines, books and catalogs, as well as Transcontinental’s U.S. direct mail and Mexican operations. Mr. Reid is responsible for approximately 8,500 employees and revenues of more than $1.5B on an annualized basis. He will also join Transcontinental Inc.’s Senior Management Committee.
