The typical landscape for U.S. printing industry trade shows today is dotted with smaller booths, fewer attendees and less equipment on display. But that wasn't the case at the recent 2014 SGIA Expo held at the Las Vegas Convention Center October 22-24. SGIA set not one, but two, new records: largest attended SGIA Expo ever, with 25,500 registered attendees; and most exhibitors, with 541 exhibitors filling 223,000 square feet of floor space.
The new chemistry-free direct-on-press Azura TE plate is now available worldwide from Agfa Graphics. Decreasing both time to press and waste, the new Azura TE plate does not sacrifice on image quality and pressroom working conditions. The plates are cleaned out on-press, so the system requires no processor, no chemistry and no water.

The Jeti Titan HS wide-format inkjet printing system, from Agfa Graphics, has been selected as "Product of the Year" at the 2014 SGIA Expo in Las Vegas. Altogether, the competition compared 139 entries from 68 companies in 25 different categories. "We are extremely pleased to have been selected for this prestigious award," commented Deborah Hutcheson, director of marketing, Agfa Graphics, North America.
The new Anapurna M2500i with optional automated board feeder (ABF) will be demonstrated by Agfa Graphics at its booth during the SGIA Expo in Las Vegas, from October 22-24. The Anapurna M2500i is the most recent i-series introduction, offering printing systems with higher productivity and quality.
Agfa Graphics is adding Dreamscape, the premier supplier of textural digital media for the décor market, to its specialty media assortment. Customers will now have access to a distribution network and wide-format application experts available from coast-to-coast. Agfa will be highlighting Dreamscape media at SGIA 2014 being held in Las Vegas this week.
At SGIA 2014 next week in Las Vegas, Agfa Graphics will demonstrate several systems from MGI Digital Graphic Technology, now that Agfa has become the national distributor for MGI products in the United States. The Agfa Graphics portfolio now includes such MGI products as the Meteor DP8700 XL+, the JETvarnish 3D and the iFOIL.
At SGIA Expo 14, Agfa Graphics' booth promises to be packed with new technology with demonstrations of its Anapurna M3200i RTR, and more. To illustrate the creativity of its portfolio, Agfa Graphics will debut the Surf N' Crab Application Zone which simulates a seafood bar and surf shop.
Based in Bensenville, IL, Sign Works has become the first print service provider to install the Anapurna M3200 RTR from Agfa Graphics. The six-color, 126" Anapurna M3200 roll-to-roll system allows the company to offer better products and faster service.
Agfa Graphics North America has been appointed as a national distributor for MGI Digital Graphic Technology's line of products in the United States. "MGI’s portfolio of products perfectly complements all of our market segments including commercial printing, packaging and sign and display printing," said Peter Wilkens, president of Agfa Graphics, North America.
