In this year’s Gold Ink and Premier Print award competitions, Allen Press won a variety of awards for its publications.
Over the past 12 months, the number of journals hosted on Allen Press’s Pinnacle Online Publishing platform has increased 42 percent.
Lawrence, KS-based Allen Press received top honors in Printing Impressions’ 2014 Gold Ink awards, with a Gold award for the Three by Three Illustrations Directory, a collection of contemporary portraits and figurative, lifestyle, landscape, and conceptual illustrations in the Books – Directories category. The company also won a Bronze award in the Scientific and Medical Journals category for The Mineralogical Record.
In 2013, Allen Press employees raised and donated more than $4,500 for the United Way and the Boys and Girls Club of Lawrence, KS. In addition to employee contributions, the company made an annual holiday donation to the American Red Cross on behalf of its customers. Company contributions totaling $15,000 were made throughout the year to other charitable causes.
A Bronze in Direct Mail Marketing was awarded for FrontMatter, Allen Press’ quarterly newsletter; and a Bronze in Customer/Community Event Marketing was awarded for the 2013 Allen Press Emerging Trends in Scholarly Publishing Seminar.

Allen Press is pleased to announce the mobile optimization of its online journal hosting platform, Pinnacle. Pinnacle for Mobile now enables publishers to present content attractively across all major mobile platforms, with HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript making it possible for content to display on most mobile devices, including those operating on iOS, Android, and RIM.
Allen Press, a printer and publishing services provider, has recently entered into an agreement with the American Accounting Assn. to provide online publishing on its Pinnacle platform for 15 of the association’s journals, in addition to the services it currently provides the association.
The Ecological Society of America, a longtime customer, approached Allen Press in the spring of 2010 about developing a workflow that would allow it to publish accepted papers within a matter of days. This expedited workflow can also be used for print publications as well as for other types of electronic deliverables.
NAPL will honor 18 graphic communications companies for their overall management excellence by presenting them with 2009 Management Plus Awards at the organization’s 2010 Top Management Conference in San Marco, FL, on February 16.
